Notts Forest Reserve v Denaby United

At Nottingham, in wet weather, before 500 spectators, the Forest, who tried a new full back named Marriot, had all the best of the opening exchanges, and Sugden scored for them after ten minutes.

Torr made a good attempt for Denaby, who played very pluckily, but the bulk of the work went on in the visitors’ quarters. Denaby had a point disallowed just on the interval for off-side, when they were a goal behind.

Play in the early stages of the second half was loose and scrambling. Newbigging saved one good shot, while at the other end Connery just missed the mark. After 20 minutes Wright brought Staples to his knees with a fast shot, and as he failed to hold the ball Sugden scored a second goal.

The Forest continued to have the better of the game, but shot badly.

Result: Notts Forest Res., 2 goals; Denaby United, 0 goal.
