Young “Billy” Smith Scores 74 for Denaby
Denaby 131 for 7 Stairfoot 47 for 6
Young “Billy” Smith, of Denaby, had the honour of being top scorer of the day with a splendid 74 scored for his side out total of 131. Mr. Bury adopted sporting principle by declaring that total with seven wickets down, leaving Stairfoot two hours in which rub off the runs.
The Ardsley men, however, batted time out thanks to Gill, whose 31 was the means saving his club. But if Mr. Bury had accepted the chance offered before had scored Denaby might easily have won, for the homesters had six wickets down the close for 47
