On December 10th, Joyce Banks, the 14 year old daughter of Mr & Mrs Banks, of the Miners Welfare Institute, Denaby Main, makes her debut “on the air.”

Joyce was winner of Carrol Levis broadcasting talent finding competition at a Doncaster cinema last week. There were 360 competitors.

Joyce sang the song she sang a few months ago on the same stage, “Ah sweet mystery of life.” So sweet was her rendering of the song that the audience demanded an encore, for which Joyce sang “The Indian Love Call.”

At the conclusion of the competition Mr Carrol Lewis spoke highly of her potentialities.

Joyce has also appeared at a Sunderland cinema.
