Robinson and Stott In Fine Form.
Easy Win For Denaby.

Denaby 149 for 2      Rawmarsh 126

Despite the counter attraction at Mexboro’ there was a moderate attendance at Denaby on Saturday.

Rawmarsh won the toss, and Gill and Blythe opened their innings. Blythe’s innings was short and sweet, his total of 17 being knocked up in fine style. Allott, who joined Blythe was run out first bail, the throw-in being a magnificent effort on the part of “Billy” Smith. Gill and Green were now together and were hitting freely. A change in the bowling was made and this had the effect of slackening the scoring a little. At 80 Green was clean bowled by Luther Robinson for a well-played 25. Shortly afterwards Gill was bowled in the same way. His individual score totalled 30, which included five boundary hits. Taylor and Hanley were now batting, but the former was bowled at 10. The next two or three wickets fell rather fast. The score stood at 125-when the two last men went in.

One more was added when Outram was bowled by G.L.Robinson.

Denaby had a about two and half hours in which to knock up 120 odd runs. Robinson and Stott turned out to face the bowling of Outram and Blythe. Runs came quickly from the first, and 50 runs were soon registered without a wicket. Robinson opening out in fine style. Out of a score of 80 he claimed 50. Several changes in the fielding were made, but all to no purpose.

After 45 minutes batting ones was reached, and still no wicket. It looked as though Robinson and Stott would rub off the runs between themselves, when Robinson stepped out to a slow ball from Gill and just sneaked it into Twigg’s hands. Smith joined Stott, and the scoring went on at a great pace, Stott was batting well and soon reached his half-century. Smith was bowled for 11 by Gill, and P Barry and Stott finish the innings.

At 6 o’clock the stumps were drawn with Denaby at 149 for two.
