Denaby Ambulance Competitions.

At the Large Hall, Denaby Main, Saturday night, the divisional winners, representing Denaby, Cadeby, Wath, and Mexbro’, of the Denaby Ambulance Corps met in the final competition for the silver challenge shield given by Chief Superintendent W. H. Chambers.

There was good attendance of spectators, and the contest lasted three hours and half. Dr. F. G. Twigg was the judge of the work, which was taken in four sections dealing with arteries, questions, individual and stretcher work.

Supt. Chambers judged the general drill, and at the conclusion Dr. Twigg said had been a very good competition indeed, and the work accomplished had been most creditable, particularly in the stretcher section. In the course of his comments Chief Superintendent Chambers said the Denaby drill had been all but perfect, and Wath had improved very creditably to say they had only recently been instituted.

Cadebv had dropped points on the diagonal marching. and Mexbro’ could with more practice. When the respective points for the ambulance work and the drill had been totalled it was found that Denaby had won with an aggregate of 323 points, made up of 229 for ambulance work and 94 for drill. Cadeby was second with 236 and 81, total 316; Wath third, 197 and 89, total 286; and Mexbro’ fourth with 214 and 63, total 277. From the above figures it will be seen that each division did well in certain particulars, and Mexbro’ the last on the list, received the highest number points for theory. .

Next Saturday the Countess of Yarborough will visit the ball for the purpose of distributing the prizes and medallions won by members of the corps during the year.
