Denaby and Cadeby Cricket Prospects

The runners up for last year’s Mexborough league championship are looking forward to having a successful time. The first he will again be captained by Mr Charlie Bury, who still takes a warm interest in the team, and the club.

Mr Percy Bury will act as a sub captain and the famous hitter hopes to be in as good form as last year, the hope shared on his and their own behalf by the other members of the team. All the old players are available, and have made a start to practice, with the intention of being in winning form for the first match, which is at home against Wath on the 28th inst.

The Denaby team, I am informed, will be made up entirely of last year’s players, as non-nuclear as arrived in the place of any of them.

Before the Mexborough league fixtures Denaby and Cadeby will play two matches, one with Elsecar and one with Grimsby, and through the kindness of Mr G.S.Marples, the Derbyshire XI will again be seen at Denaby, the date for the fixture being 28 July.

The second team, which will compete in the South Yorkshire League, will be captained by Mr R Riley.
