Wright Rallies Denaby.
Bright Innings Against Bentley.

A fine innings by Joe Wright enabled Denaby to recover from an indifferent start and to pile up a total which proved beyond Bentley’s reach at Bentley on Saturday. Wainwright and Greenwood both went comparatively cheaply, but Wright then took charge and with the aid of successive partners, all of whom contrived to help on the score, set Denaby on the way to a useful total before he was caught by Brooks off Sensical. G Reville came along with a decidedly useful contribution of 36, and with Pattison carrying cot his bat for 15 the total reached 190.

Sensical, with 6 wickets for 62 runs, was Bentley’s most effective bowler, and for Denaby, who got rid of the home team for 137, despite some dour batting, Charlie Mcartney did best with 5 for 50, though Reville gave valuable assistance and supplemented his good innings by taking 3 for 43. Bunting held up Denaby for a time and was top scorer with 44, but Ernest Wainwright eventually got through his defence, and though Scott and Baker did their best they could not avert defeat.
