Sheffield Independent – Monday 23 May 1938
Brodsworth 127 Denaby and Cadeby 128 for 7
SR Bailey 41, S Cameron 22 J Pitt Pladdy 44, J Wright 25
The brightest feature at Brodsworth was a stylish 44 by J Pitt-Pladdy for Denaby and Cadeby.
Brodsworth appeared likely to be dismissed for very low score at one period, but S R Bailey altered the complexion of things in a spirited knock, receiving useful support from Cameron.
Wathey’s spin bowling was always troublesome to the Brodsworth men and his three wickets cost him less than five runs each. Porter had 4 for 36 and Butler for 28.
