Hard Luck For Greenwood
Denaby after placing themselves in what appeared to be a strong position at Brodsworth, thanks to sound batting, were only able to draw in the end, and, indeed, Brodsworth with three wickets in hand at the close were but 25 runs behind.
Greenwood made an outstanding effort with the bat for Denaby and was unfortunate to be caught when he only required seven runs to complete his century. Out of 93 runs 52 were made by boundary strokes. None of the other Denaby batsmen could do anything like so well, but Wainwright. Tibbles and Allen all gave good support and the visitors declared at 208 for 8.
An exhibition of forcing cricket by F. Hill. who scored 116 before he was caught by Wild off Criddle’s bowling enabled Brodsworth to make a determined bid for victory, and with Gregory and Humphreys also making useful contributions they had scored 183 for the loss of seven wickets when time was called.
