Denaby End Season With a Win
Denaby 203 for 8 Bullcroft 158
Denaby ended their best playing season for 15 years by securing their 12 th victory this season by defeating Bullcroft with five minutes to spare on Saturday.
Denaby lost their first wicket at 20, but Bateson and Pegg helped to pull the game round, and there followed a timely stand by H. Mee, a soldier home on leave, and Ted Wathey. Between them they made the total 203 for 8.
A draw seemed certain for with only 20 minutes to go Bullcroft had five down for 138, but a change in tactics brought victory for Denaby with five minutes to spare.
Scorers in the Denaby total of 203 for 8 were Bateson (48), Pegg (29), Mee (not out 42) and Wathey (not out 33).
Bullcroft´s total of 158. Dawson made 71, Ekins 21, Broom 25 and Cooper 13. For Denaby Wathey had 5 for 35
