Although Denaby were beaten at Abbeydale on Saturday it seemed at one time as though their last-wicket pair, Dale and Wathey, would pull the game round, for their partnership produced 26 runs. As it was, Denaby lost their second game of the season.
Sheffield Collegiate’s first wicket fell at 17, the second and third at 68 and the next, three also cheaply. But Jenkinson and Maddocks got together to carry the total froir88 to 141. Jenkinson, who scored 42, no five fours. The declaration was made at 170 for 8. For Denaby, Pitt-Paddy took 3 for 17 and Wathey 2 for 57.
Disaster followed disaster for Denaby, Greenwood. Robinson, Pitt-Pladdy, Boot and Wainwright all being dismissed for 22. Wright and Hobson put on 38 for the sixth wicket, but the seventh fell at,the same total. Wright, and Allen added117 before Wright went after scoring 34, including five fours. Allen scored 24. and Denaby were all out for Ill. For Collegiate. Elliott “took 5 for 41, Maddocks 3 for 17 and Cooke 2 for 30.
