An Exciting Finish

Denaby and Cadeby 102 for 9 v South Kirkby 98

There was a very tight finish in the Denaby and South Kirkby match at Denaby yesterday. South Kirkby batting first only scored 98, owing to the good bowling of Worthington and Higgins.

Denaby opened with Vollans (31) and Greenwood (19), and 42 runs were scored before Greenwood was caught by Hobson in the slips. With Greenwood gone, the batting of Denaby was seen to fall to pieces, and eight wickets were down for 97, Carlin and Worthington brought the scores level, and Carlin was caught by Capstick .

The Denaby captain, Denaby’s last man, joined Worthington, with one run needed to win. Capt Harrison hit the first ball he received for four, and Denaby won by one wicket.
