Denaby, on Saturday, finished 11 runs short of Swinton’s total of 153 (for 6).

After losing their first two wickets for five, Swinton’s position was improved by a partnership between G. Barnett and W. B. Broadhead. Scoring all round the wicket, they took the total to 93 before Barnett (43) was caught by Bullard. Eyre caught Broadhead at 42. A. Moore had 23 not out and G. Robinson 37, Turner took 4 for 16.

Denaby’s first wicket fell for 23. R. Howson (36), caught by Parkin, was their second highest scorer. K. Bacon helped with a useful 23, and F. Turner put the Swinton bowlers through their paces before he was caught for 47. Denaby wanted 17 to win when Turner and G. Allen came together. Turner had scored five of them and Allen one when Turner was caught. A Broadhead bowled 23 overs, taking 5 for 69. A. Moore had 4 for 34.
