Notable Efforts by Wathey and Clarkson
Denaby & Cadeby 148 Scarborough 223

Greenwood tried seven bowlers, and it was Wathey who separated the two. Wathey’s bowling was treated respectfully by the other batsmen, and he finished with five wickets for 2S runs, and Vollans’s two cost only 9 runs.
Denaby started disastrously, with Greenwood and Vollans out for 19. Williams and Clarkson made the best partnership. Clarkson saw three more wickets fall, and with Wathey as his last partner made a determined effort to force a. draw, only to be beaten in the last five minutes.
