Denaby and Cadeby 152 for 9    Swinton 67 for 1

The visitors to Denaby on Saturday were Swinton, and they gave the home team something of a fright, for on Denaby going in to show that they were going to try their very best to bar the home  team’s good form in the league.

Denaby at one time had five wickets down for 26 runs, and only the appearance of A Robinson and W. Narroway who scored 39 and 46 respectively, saved the situation. Eventually they held up the total of 152 for the nine wickets when they declared.

Swinton entered on their task with a little over an hour in which to rub off the total, and so well did they think that when time was called they had scored 67 for the loss of only one wicket. For once the Denaby bowling was very weak. Neither W. Scott RG. L. Robinson being able to make any impression, and if there had been time, Swinton would no doubt that they easily so well did they the bowling.

An excuse can be made for G. L. Robinson, who was hurt at Wombwell in the previous match. They have secured the services of a fast bowler from the West Yorkshire district, and it is a pity that his services cannot be rendered in the league.
