Denaby Scramble Home.

(At Denaby: Rotherham lost by one wicket).

Denaby’s tall wagged strongly in their match with Rotherham on Saturday and gave them their most exciting win this season. In a close finish Denaby had one wicket to fall when they required three runs to top Rotherham’s 190 for 6, and they won with 191 for 9.

Rotherham had lost two wickets for 17 when E. Neville went in to score a masterly 77 before Turner caught him off Eyres G. Root, his partner for a time, followed him to the pavilion shortly afterwards, bowled by Robinson for 44. R. Douglas had 24 not out. Denaby’s most successful bowlers were K. Bacon, who took 2 for 29 and F. Turner (2 for 26).

Denaby’s first wicket fell at 49 and their third at 71. K. Bacon cased the position with 51 and E. Robinson (17 not out) and F. Turner (36) took the score towards victory. G. Allen eventually joined Robinson to see the Rotherham total passed. R. Morton helped Rotherham so near to success by taking five Denaby wickets for 82. J. Hampshire had 2 for 21 and F. Ellis 1 for 42.
