Denaby’s Pair’s Fine Stand

Tibbles and Greenwood in Form

Denaby & Cadeby  197  Bullcroft  50

Tibbles and Greenwood put Denaby well on the way to victory at Tickhill Square on Saturday and although Bullcroft played with extreme confidence in an effort to save the game, they never appeared likely to do so.

Denaby’s opening pair scored fast mainly by boundary strokes and out on 150 below being parted.  Both, however, went at that score and subsequent players did little for the total falling 3 short of 200. Tibbles, who was L.b.w., hit 15 fours in his 93.  Shaw returned the good bowling figures of 5 for 36.  Bullcroft’s first wicket fell at 20, three more fell for the addition of only 2 runs and Robinson got rid of another three batsmen.

Eventually Denaby won with 20 minutes to spare.  Only 40 overs were needed to dismiss Bullcroft and over half were maidens.  Wild’s five wickets cost 16 runs and Robinson took 3 for 2.
