Remarkable Scoring
Denaby & Cadeby 300 for 4 Doncaster Town 216 for 6
At Denaby yesterday, the match being memorable scoring. Denaby batted first and declared at 300 for four, their record total.
The principal contributor was Ernest Wainwright, a Conisborough youngster who has come up from the second team this season. He batted brilliantly, and was 113 not out when the innings was closed. His score included sixteen 4’s and a six, and his display quite overshadowed the excellent batting of his colleagues, though Narraway delighted the crowd with some fierce hitting, making his 54 in 20 minutes, and hitting twelve boundaries.
Doncaster Town made a valiant stand, and the crowd were treated to another fine century, A. W. Pretties, the Lancashire county amateur, who opened the innings, being 103 not out at the close of a remarkable afternoon’s play.
The match, although interrupted for forty minutes by rain, produced 516 runs for the loss of ten wickets.
