Denaby 43 Kilnhurst 44 for 4
J Morton 5-22
The above fixture was brought off at Denaby on Saturday. The homesters batted first with Routledge and Moore, to the bowling of J Martin and Blurton. After scoring one Routledge was unfortunate enough to play one of Burton’s deliveries into his stumps. Wickets now began to fall quickly, Moore being the only batsmen who could play the ball anything like, and after he had scored 20 by sound cricket he had to leave, “yorked” by Morton. No other batsmen gave much trouble and the venture closed for 43. James Morton claimed five wickets for 22 runs and Blurton three for 18, while Scott got the remaining two for one run.
Kilnhurst wanting 44 to win started on a seemingly easy task, very badly. A Saxon being run out for the very first ball sent down. J Martin and Scott carried the score well on, when the former had to leave, bowled by Routledge, for a well played 13. Scott and the new arrival, Taylor, played very good cricket until each were dismissed close after one another for 10 and 11 respectively. With Saxon and Sibley in, the remaining few runs were knocked off leaving Kilnhurst an easy victory by six wickets.
