Short Lived but Sensational At Denaby
Denaby 45 for 1 Thorncliffe 42
The match at Tickhill Square was only of a short duration but provided the spectators with a sensational game. Fielding a weakened team Thorncliffe were all out in less than an hour for 42.
Cookson and Holmes had put only five on the board when the first wicket fell, then 10 runs later Holmes was also bowled by Peg after he had scored five. For Denaby, Porter and Pegg took four wickets for 12 runs and 4 for 17 respectively.
Criddle, the Denaby captain, open the innings with Wright and the game was as good as won when he (Criddle) left after scoring 22. Wright and Batty scored the necessary runs, Wright being 17 out and Batty one not out. For Thorncliffe, Terry had one for14
