Denaby finally made a start to the season last Sunday and their batting display certainly showed their lack of match play.

K. Levers, for Steel Peech and Tozer had bowling figures of 8-34, but it must be said that he sent considerable amount of full tosses and long hops which went unpunished by the Denaby batsmen.

When K. Cooke was out 30 the Steel Peech score stood at 47-7 and Denaby were in very good chance of victory, but a fine stand of 42 by Clarke and Pike took Steel Peech within three runs of victory, and they finished winners by two wickets. Clarke hit 34 and bowling for Denaby, R. Lawley took 4-33 and  R. Cory 2-10.
