Huge Stand Against Denaby
Faced with the formidable total of 255 at Doncaster on Tuesday, Denaby did well to score 170 for the loss of five wickets in reply. Doncaster’s big score was mainly due to a splendid opening partnership between G. Hutchinson and A. Lindley, both of whom scored centuries, the former carrying out his bat. Doncaster had lost but two wickets when they declared their innings, occupying just less than 2½ hours.
Denaby were mainly indebted to Arthur Vollans for their runs, though Wainwright and Foster also did their share. Vollans was at the crease for an hour and a half for his 65 not out, but his innings was not devoid of big hits and included seven fours and a couple of sixes. Scores:—
