Rockingham  134  Denaby & Cadeby 137 for 7

Poole, the Notts. Batsman, came to the aid of Denaby, who just beat the clock to defeat Rockingham by four wickets. Rockingham were all out for 134 (Fish 67, Ivill 36).  For Denaby, Wardle took 6 for 62 and Newton 3 for 30.

Denaby made a poor start and five wickets were down for 37 runs.  C. J. Poole and Wardle pulled the game round and in 35 minutes put on 53 before Wardle was caught for 20.  Cory then joined Poole and only 10 runs were needed when Poole left with 68 to his credit. Stumps were drawn at 137 for 7 (Cory 22 not out). For Rockingham Fish had 4 for 52.

Thorncliffe Master Mexborough

Thorncliffe are having a good season and at home on Saturday to Mexborough they brought off their sixth win.  Batting first they scored 153 (M. Blackmore 26, R. Howson 23, H Whitham 22).  Incidentally, 30 extras were included in the total.

Mexborough gave a poor batting display.  Their last 8 wickets only added 31 runs, their innings ending for the small total of 58, H. Nutbrown and M. Blackmore bowled unchanged throughout the innings, taking 6 for 29 and 4 for 24 respectively.

Wath’s First Win

Wath  200 for 3  Cortonwood  129

Wath recorded their first victory by beating Cortonwood at Wath by 71 runs.  Sent in to bat, the home team compiled 200 for three wickets (W. Rippon 64, R. Cutts 52, S. El6 not out).

Cortonwood made 129.  Smith kept wicket well, taking three good catches, while Ellis had three victims at point.
