Hickleton Win Low Scoring Game
Frickley 81 Hickleton 83 for 6
In a low scoring match at South Elmsall on Saturday, Hickleton beat Frickley by four wickets. Against W. Lockwood (5 for 38), and J. Riley (5 for 43), Frickley were dismissed for 81(C. Hobson 24. A. Ward 20, H. Hatfield not out 20).
Hickleton (A. Turner 10, H. Riley 10, J. Hutchinson 15) had a fright when they lost six wickets for 59, their batsmen finding the fast bowling of E. Govier (5 for 22) difficult, but J. Riley (17) and F. Teasdale (7) overhauled the Frickley score without being beaten.
Denaby Fall Short at Sheffield
Sheffield United 166 Denaby & Cadeby 79
Denaby again failed on Saturday against Sheffield United away. The United made 166 after being sent in, but Denaby could only make 79. Chief scorers for Sheffield were Cummins (23), Lee (26), Wragg (24).
Denaby’s best scorers were Williams (32), and Newton (10 not out). For Denaby, Wardle took 7 for 32, while for Sheffield United, Oswald had 7 for 37.
