Denaby & Cadeby out of luck at Shiregreen.

Shiregreen 85 for 3                     Denaby & Cadeby 84

Denaby and Cadeby went to Shiregreen with hopes of halting the latter’s Council climb, but they did not succeed.

Denaby found runs hard to come by, facing the accurate bowling of F. Hartley, whose 10 overs earned him 4 for 10, his partner, McGrail, while bowling accurately, could not beat the batsmen. The Shiregreen skipper, with the score at 15 for four, decided to switch the bowlers and brought on the brothers S. Atter and A. Atter.

No. 4 batsmen, N. Oakley (38) and E. Waddington (30) in a happy partnership, carried the score to 60 for 5 , then the bowling brothers went into action to close the Denaby innings for 84. S. Atter finished with 3 for 7 and A. Atter 2 for 24.

Shiregreen’s opening pair put on 27 before Thomson was out for 17. G. Burdett carried on to reach 37 not out and he found a partner in P. Ardron (22) to see a 7 wickets Victory at 85 for 3
