Close Finish at South Kirkby

Denaby gained an easy victory at South Kirkby in a game featured by a brilliant innings by J. Wright.  The veteran W. N. Malthouse was in form with the ball and took 6 for 78, twice missing the hat trick, but Wright, the fourth man in resisted all attacks and was unbeaten at the close with 82, including a 5 and eight 4’s.

Denaby declared at 208 for nine, R. Sale (27), K. Bateson (19), A. Hough (16), being other double figure scorers.

South Kirkby were dismissed for 129 with ten minutes to go, skipper Clem Hobson being their top scorer with 27.  G. Allen was a clever stumper for Denaby, for whom W. Holland took 4 for 35 and G. Porter 3 for 18.
