Tibbles Again

“Ted” Tibbles, who added another to his long list of big centuries in club cricket last Saturday when he scored 100 for Denaby at Shaw Lane, is one of the most attractive, as well as consistent, batsmen that this district has yet seen.

We cannot claim the credit of his upbringing, for he was making big scores in important cricket in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and South Wales long before he came to Denaby. He has a classical style, a redoubtable defence, and with it all he is as free and enterprising as any Saturday afternoon crowd could desire. His is “inspiring cricket” refined—the county manner adapted to the exigencies of the Saturday afternoon game.

He is one of the most prolific scorers in Yorkshire Council cricket, and by the look of things he has a run to come for every one of the thousands he has scored.
