Denaby Draw

Wombwell Main 151 for 9          Denaby and Cadeby 77 for 4

There was nothing particularly inspiring in the game between Denaby and Wombwell Main on the ground of the latter.

The home batsmen found themselves in happy mood, as home batsmen do upon occasion, and ran up a score of 151, in which there were no less than seven double figure innings and to which Baker (not out 35), L Holmes (30), Pepper (25) and E Thomas (20) contributed substantially.

Wombwell Main declared at nine wickets down, but there was never any serious prospect of a finish, and Denaby, taking things easily, played out time with four wickets down for 77.

It would not have mattered greatly how things went, but a draw was perhaps the most faithful reflex of the play.
