Denaby’s 10 Wicket Win

On an easy playing wicket Denaby and Cadeby’s Yorkshire Council openers A. Ellis and M. Walker made short work of Brodsworth at Denaby on Saturday.

After a vigorous start by Brodsworth brothers John and Richard Lumb, scoring 14 and 17 respectively, the visitors faded under the pressure of Denaby bowlers R. Lawley (4 for 40), A. Dodds (3 for 21), and R. Cory (4 for 28), and were all out for 93 in just under two hours.

It took Ellis and Walker five minutes less to knock up 46 not out and 47 not out against a Brodsworth attack that featured five bowlers, but never got into its stride. Denaby total was 94 for none. Both Ellis and Walker hit four fours in their respective totals, and perhaps significantly snatched 39 singles between them.
