Denaby Children’s Help for Russia
Some time ago we published an account of the efforts of nine Denaby girls, led by Mrs. F. Baker. of 21, Rossington Street, Denaby Main, who formed a concert party and by performing in the backyards raised £3 for Mrs. ‘Churchill’s Aid to Russia Fund.
Since then they have given the programme at the various schools in Denaby and Conisbrough (after school hours), and have collected a further £4, which has been sent to Mrs. Churchill and a reply has been received acknowledging the good work they have done.
The girls are Joan Watkin, Iris Broom, Doris Broom, Doreen Thompson, Irene Bransby, Lily Cooper, Nora Cassldy, Elsie Dudhill and Mary Harris.
Their ages range from five years to eleven years.
