Denaby Church Jubilee Programme
The Vicar of Denaby Main, the Rev. A. V, Roebuck, and members of the Church Council have had a busy time preparing for the Golden Jubilee of All Saints’ Church, Denaby Main. The church was opened and dedicated on September 21st, 1900 by the Archbishop of York.
When the Silver Jubilee was held all the past priests at the church took part in some of the services and. as many as can possibly come will do so in the Golden Jubilee and has been set out and printed by the ” South Yorkshire Times ” Printing Co. Copies can be obtained from Mr. T. Holcroft or from members of the Church Council at 2d. each.
Celebrations commence on Wednesday, September 20th, when at 7 p,m the preacher will be the Right Rev. k E. Kirk, Bishop of Oxford, who served his first curacy at Denaby Main. Although Dr. Kirk is a very busy man he has always maintained an interest in church work in Denaby Main.
On the actual anniversary the combined choirs of Mexborough, Conisbrough and Denaby Churches are to take part in evening service. There is also a special service for men on Monday evening, September 28th, when the preacher will be the Rev. J. M. Shaw (Rector of Rossington), and to this service an invitation is extended to all old choirboys or members of the old Bible Classes and Boys’ Clubs. The special service for women is arranged for Wednesday, September 27th, at 4 p.m: and speaker will be Deaconess Ellis, of Bridlington, for several years a Denaby parish worker.
Social activities include on Friday, September 8th, a dance in the Church Hall: on September 19th (Tuesday), a social arranged by the ladies of the Church Council: on September 25th, a film show for children (5.30) and on September! 27th a social arranged by the men.
