Denaby Co-operative Society

The 77th quarterly report of the Denaby Co-operative Society is to hand, and, all things considered, is very satisfactory.

The sales amount to £5,007 12s., and the profits to be disposed of are £1,385 6s. 9d. This enables the committee to pay a dividend of 1s. 4d. in the £ on members’ purchases, after paying interest on capital and the usual allowance to reserve fund, depreciation, and non-members’ dividend, carrying a balance of £111 6s. 9d. to next quarter.

The quarterly meeting will be held on Saturday, in the Rossington Street school at 6.30 p.m.

The withdrawal of members during the quarter is fixed at 38, but the increase of new members is remarkable, no fewer than 92 having joined this quarter. The number last quarter stood at 510, and is now 564.

The attendance of the committee is as follows:—Messrs. W. H. Chambers 13, J. Dixon 18, R. Wright 13, J. Blunt 15, W. Terry 13, John Soar 13, J. Hoyle 13, J. Marriott 13, T. J. Baylis 13.

The retiring members are Mr. W. H. Chambers and Mr. John Soar, but are eligible for re-election.

During the quarter a change has been made in the management, and Mr. Joe Soar, jun., has been appointed manager in succession to Mr. A. Noble.

I am quite sure my readers will join with me in wishing Mr. Soar the success he so richly deserves in his position as manager of the Co-operative Stores at Denaby Main.

I must take the opportunity of congratulating the gentleman upon his appointment, in which I wish him a long and prosperous reign.
