Denaby Crossing
There is distinct encouragement in the answer of the Ministry of Transport to Mr. Tom Williams’s question regarding the level crossing at Denaby Main.
We are rather surprised to learn that the Ministry has never received any “proposals” for bridging this crossing. The increasing obstruction of traffic has frequently been brought to the notice of the County Council. It is obviously the duty of the West Riding Highways Committee to explore every possibility of getting rid of this obstruction.
The object has been hindered rather than helped by grandiose plans. It seems to us that the crossing could be bridged for considerably less than the £100,000 which represents the most modest estimate, and with a substantial contribution from the Road Fund the scheme would be quite practicable, even if the contributions of the locality and the railway company were negligible.
