Denaby Cyclist Fined

Fines of 12s. and 10s. respectively were imposed on Patrick Maye, a Denaby miner, at Doncaster on Saturday for driving a bicycle with no front light and for riding the machine furiously,

P.c. Yeomans said he was pushing his cycle towards Braithwell on the Maltby to Braithwell road and Maye was coming in the opposite direction at such a speed that when the constable put his hand up to pull defendant up, he was unable to stop.

He ran into witness’s arm, which knocked defendant off the machine.  When asked why he had no light, Maye said he had no carbide.
