Denaby Girl Wins Bronze Medal

 

Miss Mary Goddard (21), second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Goddard, of 38, Annerley Street, Denaby Main, has won a bronze medal as third prize in Doncaster’s Royal infirmary’s “ Nurse of the Year” competition.

Mary is in her fourth year as trainee and takes her State Registered Nurse final next Wednesday in Sheffield. She won the matron’s prize for examinations in 1955, and has passed her first part of the S.R.M. Examination. She hopes to stay at Doncaster Royal infirmary to become a staff nurse.

An old student of Conisbrough Northcliffe modern school Miss Goddard took the nursing course at Mexborough technical College and went to Doncaster infirmary on leave in there. Her elder sister, Olga, is a state registered nurse and state certified.
