Denaby Intruder
Caught in Sheffield Wood
Albert Beasley (42), of Barnburgh Street, Denaby Main, was committed for trial at Sheffield on Thursday to the next Sheffield Quarter Sessions on a charge of breaking into a house in Carterknowle Road, Sheffield, on July 31st, and stealing goods valued at £1 6s. 6d. and £5 6s. 5d. in money. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £10.
The occupier of the house said while sleeping in a downstairs room he awoke to find the door slowly opening, and saw someone carrying a lighted candle.
Det. Sleath said outside the kitchen window, partly concealed, he found a pair of men’s boots. He searched the district and saw Beasley sitting astride a wall. Beasley ran away, but was caught in a wood. He had no boots. The stolen property was found in his possession.
