During the year just ended the Denaby Main branch of the County Library issued 31,261 volumes, of which 7,477 were for juvenile readers.

Fiction claimed the biggest portion, there being 23,047 books read by adults and 7,291 of this type by juniors.

Other books in order of popularity were (number in brackets shows how many were taken by children): Natural science 150 (26), biography 143 (34), travel 142 (12), history 120 (52), sociology 98 (4), literature 91 (16), useful arts 65 (16), fine arts 56 (nil), religion 35 (23), philosophy 15 (nil), general works 6 (3), philology 2.

The religion figures are rather remarkable, showing children to be twice as interested as adults, while one dozen is a small number for travel books.

There are 1,202 adults on the books and 283 children. There are 2,062 volumes in stock and 3,294 issues were made in March.
