Denaby Main Co-operative Society

The last quarterly meeting of the members of this society took place on Saturday evening last.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. W. H. Chambers, presided, and after an introductory speech, in which he complimented the members on the success of the first quarter’s transactions, he called upon the Secretary to read the minutes of the committee meeting for the past quarter.

The names having been read, it was unanimously resolved, on the motion of Mr. Chambers, seconded by Mr. Weston, that the balance sheet be passed, which was carried.

The committee was also re-elected.

From the balance-sheet we notice that the turnover for the quarter amounted to £920 10s. 3d., showing a profit of £5 5s. after taking provision for interest on members’ paid-up capital and writing off one per cent. to Educational Fund, and 2½ per cent. to Reserve Fund.

The amount of members’ cheques given up to September 30th was £249, and on the division of 1s. 4d. in the £ is announced, equal to £20 11s. 8d. to which the non-members’ cheques amounted is £97, on which a dividend of 1s. in the £ has been declared.

The total amount disposed of in dividend is £24 12s. 6d., leaving a balance to be carried forward to the Reserve Fund of £10 11s. 1d.

The committee are of opinion that this result is highly satisfactory.
