100 Men Out of Work

 Proposed Levy.

There are over 100 men temporarily out of work at the Denaby Main Colliery owing to alterations to the winding gear.

There has been much discussion at to whether their colleagues at the Cadeby, Maltby, Dinnington and Rossington Collieries should come to their aid.

On Wednesday a ballot was held, the ballot paper stating: “Are you favour of a levy of 3d. per man and ld. per boy per week under 18 years of age, surface men and boys 1d. per week, to assist the men at Denaby now out of work?”

The result of the ballot at the Cadeby Colliery was: In favour 1,225, against 1,111, with 20 spoiled papers.
