Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 25 January 1884
Denaby Main Industrial Co-operative Society.
The second quarterly report of the above society has just been issued. The turnover for the past quarter amounts to £955 3s. 3d., an increase of £341 13s., showing a profit of £51 4s. 11d., after making provision for interest on members’ paid up capital and writing off one per cent. to the Education fund and 2½ per cent. to the Reserve fund.
The amount of members’ checks given in is £424, on which a dividend of 1s. 10d. in the £ on members, and 1d. in the £ on non-members purchases, is declared, leaving a balance of £31 4s. 4d. to be carried forward to the reserve fund.
The Committee in the report state that although this result shows a satisfactory improvement on the last quarter’s trading it is far below what might be done, and appeal to the members to do their best to induce others to join and trade with the society.
