Denaby Main Institute

Mr. N. Hulley. Agent-Manager of Denaby Main Colliery, presided over the annual meeting of the Denaby Main Institute last week, and congratulated officials and members upon the success of the past year. Accounts were accepted as satisfactory.

The Death and Dividing Society had had a good year, and paid out at Christmas about 52s. per head The Outing Club and the Children’s Outing Fund were both quite satisfactory. The Library was doing good work, and over 1200 books had loaned in the year. They had 30 old age pensioners who had all been made life members and each received 10s. at Christmas.

Eighty members of the club were serving with the Forces, and they had been sent 5s. each at Christmas and other gifts from time to time.

Several members had been assisted during the year to go to convalescent homes.

Officials elected were: Mr. N. Hulley; president; Messrs. J Feeney and J. Straw, vice-presidents; Mr. W. Astbury, financial secretary; Mr. G. Constantine, general secretary; committee, Messrs. R. Drummond S. Taylor, W. Barnett, H. Wood. G. Whitehead, E. Hanson. S. Faulkner, J. Turner, P. Higgins, J. Hughes, R Peters and .J Hawksworth.
