Denaby Main Institute – Jubilee Celebration
The question of the Jubilee celebration was considered at the Denaby Main Institute, Mr WH Chambers, colliery manager presiding.
Mr Buckingham Pope, of Hull (managing director the Denaby Main Colliery), and asked what was intended to be done in the matter, and not only was he wishful that something should be done, but on behalf of the company yet promised to bear all the expenses incurred in the celebration, giving instruction at the same time that the celebration should not be spoiled for the sake of a pound or two.
It was unanimously decided that a free treat be given to all the children, and the committee was appointed to arrange plans for a demonstration in other ways.
