Mexborough & Swinton Times, April 16, 1897
Denaby Main Wesleyan Band of Hope.
A magic lantern entertainment of a most enjoyable description was given on Monday evening by Mr C. Tregoning, of Mexborough, the subjects included “the slaves of drink,” “the trip to London,” “Ancient and modern London,” and the “Life of Christ, from the manger to the Cross.”
The readings were given in a clear and able manner by Mr J. Dixon, of Cadeby, and the illustrative views thrown upon the screen, were greatly appreciated by the children and parents, of which there were upwards of 250 present.
A collection was made at the close on behalf of the band of Hope funds.
