Denaby Man Broke Bets Office Window.

Doncaster West Riding Magistrates heard on Tuesday how a 20 years old, a Denaby man put his elbow through a 6 ft.² plate glass window, stripped to the waist and was involved in a fight with other men.

David Days of Barnburgh Street Denaby appeared on charges of causing wilful damage to a plate glass window in Walton’s betting office, Doncaster Role, Denaby, on August Bank Holiday Sunday.

He was also charged with being drunk and disorderly, and with conduct likely to cause a breach of peace by fighting.

To civilian witnesses and PC R.M.Butterfield, of Denaby, gave evidence that on that night Days broke the window with his elbow after shouting remarks about losing money after backing horses.

He was involved with a fight with other men and a crowd gathered, causing traffic to be held up. He was stripped to the waist. He was abusing when he spoke to the police later.

In court Da this pleaded not guilty to causing damage but guilty to the other two charges. The damage, he submitted, was accidental, but the magistrates found the charge proved against him.

Days was remanded to Leeds prison for three weeks to ascertain its suitability for a sentence in a detention centre.
