Denaby Man Who “Always Get Caught.”

That he was so drunk at the time that he did not know what he was doing, was the plea of John T. Hambrey (27), miner, Denaby, who at the Doncaster West Riding court on Monday was sent to prison for six months for attempting larceny, from a second-hand clothes dealer’s shop in Church Road, Denaby.

Prosecuting Mr R. C. Linney said Hambrey was seen by a police officer as he was attempting to prise open the door of the shop with some instrument. He said the officer, “I always get caught when I do owt.”

It was alleged that as he was being taken into custody he became violent and another officer had to be called in to help.
