Denaby Man’s Conduct
A Denaby miner, named Garnett Shentall, persisted interrupting the proceedings, when a charge of assaulting a little girl, named Doris Webster, aged 12, was preferred against him, and who had to be forcibly removed, and then so far allowed his temper to overcome him as to assault a police Sgt, was smartly dealt with.
The little girl was injured by the defendants suddenly opening the door pushing the latch into her eye, and he pleaded it was an accident.
He, however, completely ignored the request of the magistrate’s clerk, police superintendent, and the magistrates to behave himself in court, and the Chairman ordered the police to remove him. He was ejected after being told he would have to go to prison for a month.
Mr F.E.Hall appeared for the complainant.
Later, superintendent minty said he proposed to lay a charge of assault against a man, and evidence was given that on the land in the prisoner kicked Sgt Stewart on the back of the and. He was committed for a further 14 days, the Chairman reminded him that it was entirely his own fault that he was in that position. He must not think he was going to rule the court.
