Denaby Men Taken by Surprise

Two Denaby miners, Herbert and John Bunting, were at Doncaster on Tuesday, fined 10s each for depositing litter on the highway.

PC Archer said that at 10:55 p.m. on February 21 he saw the two defendants eating fish and chips. They threw the paper into the road. When he went up to them and told them they would be reported, Herbert Bunting said “There are no baskets to put it in.”

John Bunting replied, “You might have told us first.”

Herbert Bunting did not appear in court, and when asked by the Clerk where his brother was, John Bunting replied “He is attending to some business.”

The Chairman (Mr John Dymond): What business is he attending to?

Defendant: He is signing on the dole.
