Denaby Miners do it again

Denaby Main Colliery, which for some months now, as, with the exception of one or two weeks, consistently beaten its output target, again achieved its object during the week ended Saturday.

The tonnage raised totalled 11,944 tons. The target is 11,000 tons.

Councillor RH Shepherd, president of Denaby Main branch of the National Union of Mineworkers, told the “South Yorkshire Times” on Wednesday that praise should be expressed of the efforts of the surface workers during the bad weather spell.

Their work on the screens was highly commendable, he said.
