Denaby Miner’s Gallantry

John Hughes, miner, of 28, Anerley street, Denaby, the other night by his promptitude saved from drowning a boy named James Woodhead, of 69, Annerley Street.

The lad was fishing in the vicinity of the Mexborough Toll Bar Bridge when he fell into the water.

He was sinking for the third time when Hughes appeared on the scene, and without the slightest hesitation jumped in and rescued Woodhead, who was restored by means of artificial respiration
