Denaby Miners in Trouble

Joseph Bell, a miner of Denaby, pleaded guilty to breaching colliery special rule 68 by neglecting to fix a back stay behind a train of corves travelling up an incline. He was fined 5 shillings and costs.

John Judge and Henry Metcalfe, also miners of Denaby, pleaded guilty to contravening colliery special rule 39. Their offence consisted of taking matches into the mine. Each was fined 5 shillings and costs. Mr. Gichard prosecuted.
